How Tesla camera calibration may work
Tesla publishes owner-facing camera calibration information explaining that some features remain unavailable until calibration completes and that clear lane markings and suitable roads can be needed. A road-based calibration does not mean the owner should simply drive until a message disappears after collision work. Completion distance and time can vary with road markings, lane arrangement, speed, traffic, visibility, weather, and the vehicle’s condition. The shop should avoid promising an exact mileage before seeing how the procedure progresses.
Radar and ultrasonic procedures depend on the installed hardware
Some Tesla configurations include radar or ultrasonic sensors, while others rely on a different hardware suite. A repair planner should not assume a vehicle lacks a sensor because a different model year does, or add operations for hardware the VIN does not have.
When radar is present, Tesla service procedures may call for confirmation in Service Mode, physical mounting checks, calibration, or additional steps after replacement or disturbance. Bumper-fascia repair can also be restricted in a radar transmission area because plastic thickness, filler, staples, and paint build can affect the signal.

How calibration is handled in the insurance estimate
