After an Audi is struck from behind, the visible mark on the bumper cover is only the starting point. The cover can flex and return close to its original shape while energy has traveled into the absorber, reinforcement, mounts, rear body structure, exhaust, wiring, parking-assistance components, or a wheel and suspension corner. A complete repair plan follows the impact path and the exact vehicle configuration instead of judging severity from paint damage alone.
A rear impact creates a damage path, not just a bumper mark
Collision energy enters where the other vehicle, object, or tow equipment contacted the Audi. Exhaust, suspension, wheels, and restraints belong in the inspection
A rear impact may push an exhaust outlet, muffler, heat shield, underbody panel, hitch, wheel, or tire. Look for new vibration, rattling, scraping, exhaust noise, odor, a shifted tailpipe, cracked wheel, tire sidewall damage, steering change, pulling, or altered ride height. These symptoms call for professional evaluation rather than a longer test drive.
If a rear wheel was contacted, alignment readings are useful only after the tire, wheel, hub area, suspension links, mounting points, and relevant structure have been inspected. Alignment can quantify the result; it cannot make a bent or displaced component acceptable.
